I'm not really a big fan of reading so I do not have any idea how the movie would compare to the book. I heard that the movie was as good as in the book, nonetheless I watched it and I personally enjoyed it for many reasons. It had great moments and it has scenes that will push you to the edge of your seats.

I think that the movie is science fiction. Because it is a genre of fiction that deals with very imaginative content, obviously the power exhibited by the president of Panem was unreal as he degrades and almost remove the basic rights of those who live in the  lower districts . Although their technology may not be as advanced as those of Star Wars and Star Trek, it can still be considered science fiction because it is set in a futuristic setting with a mix of barbaric theme inspired by the poverty of the lower districts (10, 11, 12 etc). In my opinion, the film is a commentary on the future. Since an apocalypse is what most people predict, which are depicted in many movies, very much like in the world of the 13 districts. There is only one power over Panem and it seems like there is no way out of this abusive power but to revolt which was the twist in the movie. Science and Technology is a double-edged sword. It may work very good in our favor but it can also backfire to something negative. So I think that Science and Technology neither failed nor succeeded in the movie. I really think that it is the Society that failed greatly, particularly the leaders of Panem. The Council is very abusive to people that rank below them. They merely treat people as animals for their entertainment. If they have used their resources properly and if they were fair in judgement, then the districts would have lived in harmony. The Council was too blinded with their selfishness that they even changed the rules of an unfair game to work more in their favor.

The movie shows us a peek of what might happen. Although this is very unlikely but we can see now that people will strive to gain power. They are willing to kill and die to gain power. They are so blinded with power that they can’t do good judgement for the greater good. The story is interesting and it certainly teaches a lot of lessons.
