Music and Science

Our session on music and science made me appreciate our class even more. Normally, when you think of science, you think of theories, concepts and numbers but who would have though that science could be integrated to music?

The first songs/pieces were very literal in the sense that the lyrics were very scientific.  But as we progressed in the class, I came to the conclusion that music, in itself, is a science.  It is a science because a musician must have the ability to measure and mix the different sounds that instruments make to be able to compose good music.  Music is a science because the different instruments that we use to produce music involves the chemistry and physics of Science.

The best part of the session was they played the theme song of "The Big Bang Theory" where the video illustrated the lyrics of the song (which by the way sums up everything there is to know about science...and more!).  I enjoyed this part because I am an avid fan of TBBT. Again, it's a manifestation that music is a creative way to understand science.
